Web Assignments

How big  is the Internet? In 1993, when Bill Clinton was inaugurated as President, there  were 200 domain hosts in use and by January 1, 2004 there were 194,000,000  domain hosts in use. And now, according to the website Royal  Pingdom, there were  1.97 billion people surfing the web last year. Pretty crazy to think about isn't  it?

Online users are now spending about 14 hours a week, on average - the same  amount of time that they spend watching TV - surfing the Internet according to Media Life. Those same Internet users spend about one hour reading magazines, two hours reading newspapers and five hours listening to music. "The impact of the internet is bigger than we realized," says Barry Parr, a San Francisco-based  media analyst at JupiterResearch. "The Internet is tremendously influential. It  has the kind of influence that we would have attributed to TV in the past."

This online project is designed to help you understand more about the information superhighway. You will learn and review vocabulary, the basics of netiquette, how Facebook and MySpace can affect your future, e-commerce, Google tips for searching, and Google Earth
